In an age of influencers, we often mistake 'most followers' for 'most knowledge'. But spiritual guidance requires a different set of metrics. Here are 7 signs that a teacher is safe for your heart:

1. They Lead with Rahma (Mercy)
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Those who are merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful." If a teacher’s first instinct is to shame, mock, or belittle, they are missing the core of the Sunnah. A green flag teacher corrects with the gentleness of a doctor, not the aggression of a judge.

2. They Acknowledge the 'Gray Areas'
Toxic influencers often present Islam as black and white on every single issue. A grounded teacher will say: "There are several valid scholarly opinions on this, and here is the wisdom behind each." They respect the vastness of Islamic tradition and don't force you into a narrow box.

3. They Focus on the Heart, Not Just the Exterior
A healthy teacher cares about your Ikhlas (sincerity) and your character (Akhlaq), not just your hemlines or your outward appearance. They understand that a person's relationship with Allah is an internal journey that manifests externally in its own time.

4. They Are Not Obsessed with 'Gender Wars'
If a preacher spends 90% of their time critiquing women (or men) and fuelling division, that is a major red flag. A green flag teacher speaks to the human soul. They address both men and women with the dignity Allah gave them.

5. They Admit When They Don't Know
The greatest scholars of our history, like Imam Malik, were famous for saying "I don't know." If a digital preacher has an answer for everything and never shows humility, be cautious. A true seeker of knowledge is humble before the Truth.

6. Their Character Matches Their Content
Do they practice what they preach? A green flag teacher isn't looking for 'clout' or 'likes' They are consistent, they treat their families well, and they are known for their kindness in real life, not just their 'energy' on camera.

7. They Direct You to Allah, Not Themselves
A healthy teacher wants you to become independent in your faith. They give you the tools to read the Quran and understand the Deen for yourself. If a teacher tries to make you a 'fan' of their personality rather than a 'servant' of Allah, it’s time to step back.
